Riccardo Burato (born in 1998) is a composer, pianist and programmer with a background in computer science.
He obtained his Bachelor Degree both in Piano and Composition at the Conservatory of Udine and later got his Master Degree in Composition at the Conservatory in Milan, with Gabriele Manca and Alessandro Solbiati.
He is currently studying Composition at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, with Alessandro Solbiati and Piano with Siavush Gadjiev at Glasbena Matica in Triest.
He won the Third Prize at the IX Premio del Conservatorio, organized by the Conservatory in Milan and Third Prize at the International Composition Competition ‘Egidio Carella’. In October 2025 he won the Call for Scores 2025, in the Solo instrument category, organized by the Theia Ensemble.
He has been commissioned by the 60° Festival Pontino Musica in Latina and by the XXXIII Sacred Music Festival in Pordenone. His music has been performed by the mdi Ensemble, Divertimento Ensemble (Maria Grazia Bellocchio), Theia Ensemble (Marco Salvio), the Klaipeda Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestre National des Pays de La Loire, Daniele Valabrega e Marco Salvio.
He has also pursued his studies in composition with teachers including Jose Manuel Lopez Lopez, Lisa Streich, Stefano Gervasoni e Francesco Filidei. He also had the opportunity to advance his piano studies with teachers as Massimiliano Damerini, Maurizio Baglini, Pierluigi Camicia e Alexander Gadjiev. As a pianist he also frequently collaborates with orchestras nationwide.
In March 2024 his transcription of Tosca by Giacomo Puccini for chamber orchestra has been published by Ricordi; the same transcription has been performed by the Angers Nantes Opéra.
He is a Mensa member since 2024.
